Great Day at SharePoint Saturday DC on May 15, 2010

So much has been said already about how fantastic SharePoint Saturday DC was that I’m not sure that I have much to add.  But I probably should at least repeat a few of the highlights for me.

  • Almost 1000 people were in attendance. I’m not sure if that includes all of the blue shirts (presenters), orange shirts (volunteers), and many different colored shirts (vendors).
  • It was a spectacularly beautiful sunny day in Annandale, VA, yet it seemed like most people stayed with us for the majority of the day.
  • I got to meet some great people who, until now, I’ve only known through Twitter and/or the blogosphere (I’m not going to try to list everyone because I inevitably leave some people out)

For those of you who joined me in that sweltering broom closet of a room which had the overly grandiose name of Seminar 2, thank you!  I hope you enjoyed our short time together; I know that I did.

If you’re looking for the slides for my presentation entitled How to Use jQuery to Enhance the User Experience, there aren’t any!  Sorry to say that if you weren’t there, you missed out.  The session was all demo, mainly taking a look through my development environment for SPServices, but also looking at some of the jQuery-based demos on my demo site, specifically jQueryAnimatedBanner and FancyCBandRB. If you want to get a gist of what I talked about, visit SPServices and have a look around.

Thanks to the SharePoint Saturday DC team for a truly amazing event!

The next speaking engagement for me coming up is SharePoint Saturday Tampa on June 26.  Hope to see you there!

  1. Tried to get to you through Twitter. Just wanted to thank you for being at SPSDC and for your session. I was one of those in the room and got a lot out of it. I’m still trying to learn more jQuery. So far most of what I’ve done has been cut and paste. And that includes your Cascade Dropdowns, working quite well here. Seeing the code and hearing you explain it was excellent.

Thanks Again. I belong to the Baltimore Sharepoint Users Group, anytime your in the area. I think our Sharepoint Saturday is scheduled in August. Send a tweet to @ericharlan or @mrshadeed.

    1. Thanks, Al! I did see your tweet, and thanks again for attending. I’m not sure I can make SPS Baltimore; August is a bit crazy family-wise. I’ll watch for the announcements, though.

      M.
