Visual Studio and SharePoint Designer with Windows Vista

I recently upgraded my PC to Windows Vista.  I was trying to do some debugging in Visual Studio, and no matter what I did, I couldn’t get breakpoints to hit.  I did a little searching and found this post from Mike Ormond.  He suggested either adding http://localhost to your trusted sites in IE or running Visual Studio as Administrator.  The former did not work for me, but the latter did.

Apparently there are some new security features in Vista that make certain programs act differently.  I spotted another one when I was using SharePoint Designer.  All of a sudden there was a new Contributor role that prevented me from making certain changes to sites in SharePoint.  The simple workaround for this one is to go to Sites/Contributor Settings, and click the Disable Contributor Settings button.

I’ll need to keep an eye out for other strange behaviors…
